Your Voice is Your Most Valuable Asset

Dr. Paul

Let’s talk about something you probably never think about unless there’s a problem:  your voice.  We use it every day, some of us all day long, some of us as a profession, some only when it’s necessary.  Although it’s mostly subconscious, we modulate our voices for different reasons and to get certain results.  We feel a certain way, and our voice responds.  Your emotions, or feelings, or desires affect how the words come out and, therefore, how they are received.  But are they being received the way you mean?  What else are you conveying with the sound of your voice?  For that matter, how does your voice even sound? The orator Cicero said that the eyes were the window to the soul.  I believe that the voice is the window to one’s psyche and self esteem.  With that in mind, ask yourself the question: “What is my voice telling about me?”.

The eminent German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche stated, “We often refuse to accept an idea merely because the tone of voice in which it has been expressed is unsympathetic to us.”  Our reactions are intuitive, yet powerful in how we form attitudes about the speaker and what is being said.  A wealth of research within psychology, communications, and linguistics shows that a wide variety of inferences and judgments about people are made on the sound and use of the voice they hear.  Along with the more obvious, such as sex, age, social status and other demographics, the voice also conveys competence, honesty, anxiety, authority, credibility, attitude, strength, attractiveness, and perceived persuasiveness – rich variety of information beyond the content of a message.  So I ask you again, do you know what your voice is telling about you?

You may find it difficult to answer that question on your own.  We will answer it together when coaching with The Distinguished Voice.  Then we will work with you to uncover your authentic, confident and authoritative voice.  The bonus is that this coaching works in reverse as well – the more we work on the quality of your voice, you will begin to become more confident and authoritative.  It works both ways, and with our custom plans with in-person/Zoom sessions, we will begin to empower your voice to upgrade your life.  With over 30 years of working with voices, along with observation and assessment of the results of having an effective and natural sound, I know I can help to improve your voice and, therefore, your life.

Schedule a free, no-obligation, 15-minute Zoom assessment.  When you decide to move forward with personal coaching, we will plan sessions to fit into your schedule and also offer preparation sessions before a big event.  Your voice is the main representation of who you are.  You spend time and money feeling and looking great.  Your voice can either enhance everything you put into yourself or strip it all away.  Isn’t it time to put your best voice forward as well?
